Rent a Developer

Each software project passes through various phases of development, such as specification of requirements, elaboration of the project, programming, testing etc. These phases differ one from another - among others by the size of the team, which is rather small at the beginning, but usually changes during the project's course. Of course, it is most advantageous for the company to employ a really necessary number of employees.

However, to find quickly a competent employee, without loosing further months by training him/her, is not easy at present and in this field. One of the possible solutions is the so-called bodyshopping. It is a form of cooperation, when a chosen specialist attends the workplace of the customer and is directly a part of the customer's team.

This cooperation has indisputable advantages for both sides. For the side that hires out the employee it can be for example a suitable independent source of earnings and reduction of fixed costs. For the other side, such person may bring an independent approach to the given issues and contribute by his/her unique experiences. The hired out specialist does not become an employee of the other company. That company thus does not have to bear the risk that the employee will get ill; it will avoid firing people in the time of a slump and it will also save money otherwise spent on employee benefits.

What does bodyshopping mean from the point of view of the employee himself/herself? It concerns a change of ambience, a new group of colleagues, another manner of teamwork, corporate culture, different technologies and processes. It can be compared with taking up a new job. Nevertheless, the main difference lies in the fact that already from the beginning, much higher demands are imposed on the person, as it is necessary for him/her to prove corresponding knowledge and skills in a short time. Moreover, if handover of an unfinished work is still taking place at the same time in the original company, it can be many things to weight down any person at this moment. But this does not last long and soon, as one acquires experiences from the new project, the pace will slow down.

It is definitely a challenge to try something like that and it is a great success, if it works out afterwards. It is also interesting to observe, how software is created elsewhere. On top of that, one acquires many new experiences and meets many new people.
